GREENBLOCK

GreenBlock is an app created with 3 main goals: promote green initiatives, bridge the gap between generations and build community. The initial idea was to make use of the increasingly gamification of the application industry and adapt it to a great cause. Everyday the user is faced with green daily tasks, reaching for a monthly goal that tries to show how much impact these little changes in our daily routine can actually make. The main feature of this app is that it isn’t an individual effort, each user inserts themselves in a group, be it a household group or at a bigger scale like a city or county, and each member of the group can participate in the tasks whenever possible. Every time there is task completion, the user can also upload a photo or a post that will encourage other members of the group to participate in the daily tasks.

Another important feature of the app is the option to control multiple profiles from one’s phone, with the intention of logging task completion from users that might not be as tech savvy, like elderly people. As the whole point of the app is to make change together, the aim was to make as many people feel included as possible.
